TvT Loss

Well I lost that one pretty convincingly.  I knew on my next TvT I wanted to try a straight Marine push.  I remembered to push when my +1 attack landed, I forgot to wait for Stim.  Or maybe it was done and I just failed to notice?  I almost took down his bunker and then failed to retreat timely.

My build order was kinda wacky and my timing was off, but I still think there's a lot of potential.  I need to remember next time to throw up a missile turret so I can be ready for the cloaked Banshee reply.

I should probably not also rally my marines to the front of the line, don't bring reinforcements on an early Marine push..just what I have when I set out.

How many expands is too many expands?

I expanded 5 times in this last game.

It was Shattered Temple and we spawned in close by air positions.  He was scanning me a lot and not putting any pressure on me by ground so I figured he was going to go with drops.  Which he did.

The problem was he waited a long time...he shoulda dropped me when he had that first Medivac out.  That would have done a good job of pinning me in my base.  I had 3 warpgates online and was just barely able to afford each production cycle.  But he waited a little too long, until I'd gotten my Robo up and running and was expanding and it was just too late.

At that point I was already pretty sure I'd won so I cleared the rocks at my Gold, started making Immortals to handle his Marauders, started the tech for my Blink upgrade, expanded to the Gold and started building as many Gateways as I could afford to.

It still took 15 minutes from this point.  I tried to force my way into his main once but lost most of my units destroying most of his army so I pulled back, rebuilt, expanded a third and fourth time (to his second) and maxed on my Immortals, Blink Stalkers and Charge Zealots.  Eventually I got my fifth and rebuilt my base there when he sacked mine with his third drop.  But at the same time my army was destroying all his buildings, so it was effectively over.

More sucking

God, I just feel like a terrible player.  Forgetting to inject, forgetting to drone, not making enough units, not putting enough pressure on.  Not knowing when to attack and when to pull back.  Constantly making the wrong decision at the wrong time.

It feels like I'm just doing everything wrong.

I rewatch these games and I don't see what I can do better.  I see mistakes, I just can't ever seem to correct them.

Disheartened at the moment, no lesson learned for now.  Just defeated.

Okay...let's try this again

I queued up yet again today.  Why?  I want to know what I'm doing wrong.  I want to understand why my play is so extra horrible today.  I want to smash my face into the keyboard.

And I finally won.

Tal'darim is a huge macro map and it was TvT.  So I wanted to establish an early strong economy and just mass marines and marauders.  Huge numbers.  So I started doing that and just sat back.  He attacked a few times and I defended.  I attacked once or twice and did some damage to his army but neither of us made much progress.

However it felt to me like I kept coming out ahead.  When he'd attack I'd lose less units than him.  When I attacked I lost less units than him.  I went for Battlecruisers for my final tier tech and quickly upgraded.  When I hit max I did 3 things.  1.) I built more unit producing structures so I could replenish my army instantly if I suffered some huge defeat.  2.) I expanded like bananas.  3.) I kept upgrading (or tried to, I eventually forgot to keep upgrading).

Either way it worked.  I just crushed his forces as I rolled over base after base after base.  I had 6 or 7 Command Centers up at the end and over 20k minerals in the bank I couldn't spend (except for the upgrades I kept forgetting to max out...lesson learned!).

Anyway, it felt good to finally get a win in.

Gluten for Punishment

I don't even know why I queued up again today.

Of course I f-ing lost again.  I rolled Protoss versus Terran and decided to just built up and he built.  I tech'd and expanded and he..never did anything.  Never pushed out, never expanded..never did anything but sit in his base.

I should have flashed back to the days where that spelled disaster for me as a Zerg, but I didn't.

Instead I setup some Zealots in his natural and held waiting to contain..started building immortals to go with my Blink Stalkers and Charge Zealots.

Which is when he dropped a huge army into the back of my base full of Marines and Marauders and just ripped me apart.

Amazingly I haven't been demoted to Bronze yet.  But I'm sure it's only a matter of time.  Every game today is worse than the game before.

Hrm

Apparently I suck today.

Lesson Learned, I am terrible.  I cannot beat anyone in any situation.

I don't even know what to say.  I tried to go zergling mutalisk.  He built marines and tanks off one base and steamrolled everything I did.  I forgot to put guys in gas early so my zergling speed was late, but not late enough to matter.  I...I don't know.  I just suck.

Warpgate x 4

I don't know how to 4 Warpgate.

I don't know how to defend a 4 Warpgate.

So...when I'm presented with PvP I typically lose.

I built a pylon in the back of my opponents base which he failed to scout and I warped into his base.  Unfortunately the timing of this with my 3 Warpgates was equal to the timing of his 4 Warp onto my ramp.  So what started as an attempt to keep him back in his base until I could get more going in my base..turned into simply a failure.

Build Build Build Build Build Build Build

Some days I don't know what's wrong with me.

Build SCVs, Build Supply Depots, Build Unit Producing Structures, Build Units.

Or I could just build a few things, mine minerals and get rolled.

Today's lesson: Don't stop building.  Don't stop to watch the units.  Don't worry about micro.  Just keep building and expanding and building and expanding.

Way to talk smack!

Man did I lose that game.  After talking so confidently about my PvZ I went and lost tremendously tonight.

He did gateways and robo, pretty strongly.  Slow expand but that's not un-normal for what I see.  I did an early expand with zerglings and roaches.  Unfortunately I failed to think *Past* that.  I droned horribly and he stomped me with his first push.

I defended, barely, and remacroed tremendously well.  But I did it too hard and didn't build units fast enough so when he came in again, I got rolled...again.  I just didn't tech fast enough.

He earned in.  And had nice manners, I GG'd out but he sent me a /message after just to be sure I wasn't mad.  So I respect the guy for that.

ZvP I'm much more comfortable with

I certainly don't win all my ZvPs, far from it I'm sure, but it's a much more comfortable scenario for me than a lot of other matches.  Mass hydra, hydra roach, mass speed/baneling, muta ling.  Whatever....

Admittedly the guy I played wasn't exactly a master leaguer.  He opened heavy on the cannons, I think he planned on cannon rushing but I shoo'd his probe out, early expanded and went to mutas as quick as I could.  He expanded and went heavy gateway units.

Fortunately it was metalopolis and we had close by air starting positions so I put zerglings outside of his natural and mutas outside of his main and just made him run back and forth and back and forth or split his army into sizes that were manageable for me.

Eventually he just GG'd out.  Well he quit..I guess he didn't technically say GG.

Lesson for the day?  Attacking in multiple places is good.

ZvZ again

ZvZ, I lost terribly.  I went for my roach defend, but it was a huge macro map and there was no need...I didn't see him forever.  So I had my roaches out and....nothing.  I started expanding my economy and nothing.  I started getting my hydras out and he pushed in with Mutas.  But at that point he had a bigger economy more well established and I was on my back legs.
